Client Released from Custody without Having to Post Bond

Published: Jan 8, 2008 By: Matthew L. Kolken Source: My Source

Our client was just granted a release from custody without having to place a bond.  She will be applying for asylum because her fiancé was brutally murdered as a result of his membership in a political organization in Haiti, and his working for reconciliation among the various groups in Haiti .  Our client fears that she too will be murdered if she is forced to return home.

Our client had a preliminary credible fear interview with an asylum officer who has determined that our client's story is backed up by the available country reports.  The rest of her family lives in the United States, and are either  United States Citizens or have a Green Card.  We are hopeful that we will be able to win her asylum before an Immigration Judge, which will enable her to live safely in the United States without fearing for her life.  Matthew Kolken is representing her before the Immigration Court.
