Green Card Granted by Immigration Judge

Published: Feb 7, 2008 By: Matthew L. Kolken Source: My Source

We just won a Green card for our client who has been in the United States without status for almost twenty years.  She came to the United States as a visitor, and has a United States citizen child.  We convinced the Judge that it would cause an exceptional and extremely unusual hardship to her United States citizen child if she were not allowed to remain in the United States.

Our client is her child’s sole source of support in the United States because there is no meaningful contact with the child’s father, and because the father is an unfit parent. Our client’s application for cancellation of removal was granted, and the Government did not appeal the Immigration Judge’s decision.  She will be eligible to apply for her citizenship in five years.
