Green Card Saved: Deportation Cancelled

Published: Feb 15, 2008 By: Matthew L. Kolken Source: My Source

We just were able to save our Client’s Green Card. Our client came to the United States as a young boy from England with his parents. He was raised here, and is now in his forties. As a young man he made some mistakes, and was convicted for possession of marijuana. When he attempted to renew his Green Card he was taken into custody and was charged with being deportable. Our client has two United States citizen children who he shares custody with and fully supports, has be employed his entire adult life, is a home owner, and is a tax payer. He has not had any criminal convictions since 1993.

We argued that it would cause his two children an extreme hardship if he was not allowed to remain in the United States. The Immigration Judge agreed, and the Government did not appeal. The next step is for him to apply for his United States citizenship.
