Abused Spouse Petition Approved

Published: Oct 17, 2005 By: Eric W. Schultz Source: My Source
Eric W. Schultz has successfully obtained approval of a male client’s petition for eligibility for permanent resident status as the abused spouse of a U.S. citizen.  The client’s wife had used her ability to petition for US immigration status on his behalf as a weapon against him, and Eric’s presentation that the Violence Against Women Act was meant to prevent this abusive use of the US immigration law against vulnerable non-citizens irrespective of gender was accepted.  The client may now qualify for immediate employment authorization, is protected from the possibility of imminent removal, and may apply for permanent resident status and the chance to remain in the US with his young child from the failed marriage.
