Green Card for Russian Asylee

Published: Jan 4, 2006 Source: My Source
Lawful permanent resident status was secured for a client from Russia who won political asylum before a U.S. Immigration Judge 3 years ago.  The client, who is hearing impaired, was treated so badly in terms of educational and economic opportunity in Russia that the Judge agreed that the treatment by governmental authorities constituted substantial economic deprivation causing a threat to his life.  A year after having been granted asylum, the client applied for permanent resident status, and now he is a permanent resident who can remain in the U.S. and ultimately apply for naturalization as a US citizen if he chooses.
