Green Card Approval

Published: Jul 21, 2006 By: Eric W. Schultz Source: My Source
Eric W. Schultz, Esq., obtained lawful permanent resident status based on an approved self-petition for the abused spouse of a U.S. citizen, on behalf of a German male client.  He originally came to the United States as a member of the military, married a United States citizen and had a child with her.  After the birth of their child, his wife began to mentally and physically abuse him, and she withdrew her petition to sponsor him for a green card.  Immigration Court proceedings were instituted against the client to obtain an order of deportation.  Eric successfully secured administrative closure of Immigration Court proceedings and assisted the client in filing a “Form I-360” Abused Spouse petition, which was approved within one year of filing.  Eric then assisted the client in filing for lawful permanent resident status, and the client, with his green card, can now legally remain in the U.S. and play a meaningful role in raising his U.S. citizen child.
