Nonimmigrant Waiver Approved in Only 74 Days

Published: Dec 7, 2009 4:20 pm

Our client is a Canadian citizen. He is inadmissible to the United States for life as a result of being convicted of possessing a marijuana cigarette approximately 30 years ago. He is married, has children, is a small business owner, and is a respected member of his community.

Previously, utilizing a Canadian consultant, he applied for and was granted a one year nonimmigrant waiver of inadmissibility. He retained us to renew the waiver, hoping that we would be able to obtain an approval for more than one year.

We put together a comprehensive package on his behalf, and in our brief and supporting documentation showed that he had accepted responsibility for his one transgression, and was completely rehabilitated. The waiver application was approved in 74 days, valid for a period of three years.
