Green Card Approved in 3 1/2 MonthsPublished: Apr 25, 2011 8:00 am
Our client is a citizen of the People’s Republic of China. In December, 2010, she was married to a United States citizen. The couple retained us to obtain lawful permanent resident status for her.
We prepared an extensive evidence package on her behalf, which included appropriate documents from the U.S. Department of State Country Reciprocity Schedule, a Notarial Certificate of Birth, Household Register, Resident Identity Card, and Certificate of Honor for Only Child, because birth certificates as we know them are not issued in the People’s Republic of China. We also carefully documented the bona fides of their marriage because the couple had only known one another for five months, and the United States citizen husband was of European ancestry.
We prepared the clients for the marriage fraud interview and attended the examination under oath with them. The examination lasted less than one-half hour and the client was approved on the spot. The whole process took approximately 3 ½ months.
