Is the Obama Administration “Cooking the Books” on Enforcement Statistics?Published: Mar 19, 2012 11:40 am
Former INS Special Agent Michael Cutler reports that the chair of the House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight, Rep Darrel Issa (R-Ca), sent a letter to DHS Secretary Napolitano asking her to address a claim that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been “cooking the books” by under-reporting the number of apprehensions on the southwest border. The claim is that there are far more arrests than what the administration would have us believe.
Allegedly, a whistle blower at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) leaked the information to Issa. The report insinuates that the administration is "distorting" apprehension statistics to permit President Obama to argue that he has secured the southern border.
I don't know about you but it feels like almost every day a new story emerges about the Obama administration withholding or distorting information about immigration enforcement, and usually for political gain.
