Immigrant detainees being freed from jails and detention centers around the nation, say immigration enforcement officials

In a move to save money, the feds Monday released immigrant detainees from jails and detention centers across the U.S.

As automatic federal budget cuts loom on March 1, "ICE has directed field offices to review the detained population to ensure it is in line with available funding,” said Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson Gillian Christensen.
